My first presentation went well.. feb 2012

I remember being assigned the task to investigate the city of Cairo as my first presentation on college level. So i started preparing the geography discource and with the sites landmarks.. of the city. It went well. I remember my teacher Roberto telling the class you know how hard it is to prepare a presentation in spanish. Looking back on it , I really believe he was defending me cause i was alone and pretty much helpless, Like a person being dragged against his will by the rivers current. I remember this awkward pause after I finished like someone wants to tell me : and....?

 

I dont think i should have prepared something, i couldve just opened up the wikipedia page and started scrolling, maybe download a ready made presentation instead of having to add nothing more than.. more of the same

And...2026

When i look back to Cairo somehow I remember Indiana Jones and all this field of weird archeology that i dont understand. I remember Memphis and serious sam. I remember the Fagus Factory that predates modernism. I remember the egyptology Temple in Medellin, and the countless artifactes that were stolen . Cairo is a different place now, its boring uninteresting and polluted. I dont think you would care about the mosques or someone like Hasan Fathy even i dont care.. I dont have the confidence to say those things, my self esteem is shattered constantly, and continuosly, just like anyperson that comes from those regions. Freedom is reserved, free is relative, everything is relatives, mobs and crime. its pretty much just like here(colombia) but different

Descripción: La idea del trabajo era cortar 10 cuadrados de 5X5cm y dibujar abstracciones de piel de animales, texturas visuales y  Sistemas de celulare.

Abstracciones: en la foto de izquierda a derecha Che-eta, Árbol, Panda, tiburón, perro dalmata, música, pantera, tiburón martillo, pino, cebra.

presenting these cubes i remember the teacher pointing out the abstract and the picturesque. ive always thought it was completly bad but the ones that use the whole space or area of the cube 3  figures in every set give the best examples of an abstract representation. the least good ones or my least favorites at this point are the iconography of symbols: arabic a nd music

Conclusión:

La abstracción es un dibujo que tiene las características básicas de de lo que se está expresando.

Como auto-consejo para el futuro diría que voy a tratar de ser más directo con las frases visuales y ahorrador con mis líneas para lograr mejores resultados, tampoco temar el uso del apoyo digital para llegar al resultado deseado .

 

El ejercicio se acaba con un laberinto, un espacio lúdico  que nos acuerda de uno de los primeros juegos digitales lo cual va a servir como una inspiración a lo que sigue.

I've realized that I'm still learning how to be abstract. if you ask me now what i think. it was acceptable effort yet very misplaced complexity vs space management. I wish I've been more experimental with primary shapes and printing techniques over butter carton? to transmit the consepts for example a bee as a set of perfect arcs of black and yellow sprayed all over 

I THIK THAT WHAT I WAS LACKING BACK THEN WAS A LITTLE MORE CONFIDENCE..
